Had a great nights stay at Miskin Manor. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was lovely - both our evening meals and buffet breakfast in the morning. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed waling around them. Easy access to Cardiff, Caerphilly, Newport and Caerleon where we visited many attractions.
Stayed here for two using a travel zoo voucher- 2night plus 1 meal for £139. So great value for money but hotel under administration. Hence, rooms and hotel need some TLC. However, a lovely old manor in a great location and good to use as a base. Worth supporting as staff as they were so friendly and worked hard to please but uncertain times for them. Meal was ok but what you expect for the money. I hope a new company takes over hotel soon and keeps it open.
We booked this as a stop midway on our journey to meet friends for the weekend. Amazing place, nothing changed from its original features, and the room was a dream to be in. The surrounding gardens even though winter was still beautiful. Had an evening meal with family, and the cost was also good for 5 of us. Breakfast, as you can see, was prepared fresh as to your requirements. Staff, from walking through the grand entrance and greeted by the receptionist, was lovely, explained where everything was, and the waitering staff were polite, professional, and nothing was a problem if we asked for anything. If i were you and thinking of going to visit Wales, stay here as for us no more premier in/ travel lodge as when you get a service like this you want to come back. In fact, we have booked again for our journey back from West wales. Thanks to all the staff for making this stay a great one. Support places like this as they are a rare thing of beauty and need to stay for us to see history and enjoy reading about the owners' past and present in the corridor is fascinating. Well enough from me, visit and see for yourself.
We had a fantastic two night stay at Miskin Manor. I cannot comprehend the people who complain about the building being old. That is why one goes to these places, because they have so much history and character. I do not know if some rooms in other parts of the hotel are in a bad state, but our room was magnificent. I absolutely loved the views and the old furniture. I could almost imagine being the lord of the manor. The buffet breakfast was great and had more options than many places I have stayed in. The evening meals were also very tasty and the staff were always trying their absolute best. The hotel is also well located right next to the M4 to give easy access to Cardiff and the surrounding areas. I would definitely go back to Miskin Manor.
What a lovely hotel this is. Just off the M4 but very quiet and surrounded by greenery. Spectacular building and it's peppered with portraits throughout. If you're a fan of stuffed animal heads, then the bar is right up your street. We had a four poster bed which was really comfortable (but sounded like a bird crying whenever you moved), and came with a free discarded sock left over from a previous guest on top of the canopy. Which was a treat. The bathroom was amazing, it was worth the price just for that. We had a good view of the landscape and enjoyed a walk round the grounds for a bit. The only issue was the non-drinkable tap water, which is understandable with a building of this nature, and we didn't spot the bottled water downstairs until the next morning (our fault for not asking). Breakfast was a tasty buffet which is always a winner. We had a very enjoyable stay and we're looking forward to finding a reason to spend more time here soon.
The staff were friendly and helpful, lovely location, we had a travelzoo deal, 2 rooms, the cottage room number 43 was very nice, but our room in main hotel number 14 was poor. 4 plug sockets not working, no hairdryer, 3 bulbs missing from lamps, no spoons for the tea. The receptionist did offer to move us to another room but we decided to stay because it was only 1night. The food was good but not hot. But worth coming for the price.
Had a lovely over night stay. The food was excellent. The staff were so nice and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful setting, quiet with a very relaxing atmosphere. The Manor is steeped in history and over its period, has had its share of misfortunes. Outstanding period features throughout the property. Well worth a visit, we will certainly be going back again.
Lush break to the Miskin Manor. Special thanks to the friendly Spanish lady on dinner, Matthew for all your help whilst we were staying and all the team for making us feel so welcome. Great dog friendly room in one of the adjoining cottages - we stayed in room 43 which had access to the gorgeous rose garden. Yes, the establishment is in administration which means you’re not getting a 5* experience throughout - our biggest issue was the spa is closed (has been since October) - breakfast buffet is a little slow for fresh food and some of the veggies served on the meal were frozen rather than fresh, but overall the stay was great. Get out and explore the grounds and soak up the history of this lovely location.
